Chilli Chicken

A popular, yummy Indo-Chinese recipe. Delicious and spicy chilli chicken starter recipe.

Cooking Time – 30 – 45 minutes
Serving – 6 – 7

Ingredients : 
  • 500 gm boneless chicken, thin cubes
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 4 green chillies
  • 2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 2 tsp soya sauce
  • 2 tsp chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp corn flour
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 capsicum, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato pureed
  • Oil
  • salt, to taste
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
Marination :
  • 2 tsp corn-flour
  • 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp soya sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • salt
Recipe :
  1. Marinate washed chicken with chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, soya sauce, chilli sauce and salt. Keep aside for 1 hour.
  2. Meanwhile, cut onions and capsicum.
  3. Add corn flour to marinated chicken and  mix well.
  4. To make sauce, take a bowl and add soya sauce, chilli sauce, red chilli powder and mix well.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry chicken till golden brown.
  6. Remove excess oil from pan and keep only 4 spoons of oil in the pan. Add garlic, sauté for a minute. Then add onion, capsicum, green chillies and fry till they become slightly soft.
  7. Pour the sauce we have prepared and let the sauce bubble up. Add tomato puree and salt. Saute for 2 minutes.
  8. Add fried chicken and fry for 2 – 3 minutes.
  9. Add chicken stock and cook for 4 – 5 minutes.
  10. Serve hot chilli chicken with rice.
Note – If you don’t get red colour, you can add a pinch of red food colour.
